baking tray, baking paper, hand mixer, 2 bowls, sieve, clean tea towel, palette knife or knife, fork.

So wird’s gemacht

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C and line a tray with baking paper.
  2. Separate the eggs (Adults help). Whip the egg whites with salt until stiff.
  3. Beat the yolks with the sugar for 5 minutes until pale and thick.
  4. Sift the flour, cornflour, cocoa and baking powder over it and gently fold in with the beaten egg whites.
  5. Spread the batter evenly on the tray and bake for about 10 minutes.
  6. Turn out onto a tea towel sprinkled with sugar, peel off the paper and roll up straight away with the towel. Let it cool.
  7. Whip the cream with the cream stabiliser until stiff. Unroll the sponge, spread with jam and cream and roll up again.
  8. Melt the chocolate (Adults) and pour it over the roll. Draw grooves like tree bark with a fork and sprinkle with hazelnuts.
  9. Chill for 1 hour and decorate with fir trees.

DÖs Tipp: If the sponge cracks when rolling, it was baked too long. The cracks disappear under the bark.
